I’ve been asked a few time if Fairly Legal has been renewed.  The answer…not yet.  They haven’t announced whether the show is officially renewed for a third season.  So…what are the chances that the show will get renewed???

Well…let’s look at the numbers (since I’m a numbers person).  First, Season 1 was originally on a Thursday, while Season 2 is on a Friday.  Moving the show to Friday’s alone will lower the numbers.  After taking a few shows and averaging out a Thursday 9pm show with a Friday 9pm show, I found that the Friday shows get approximately 22.2% fewer viewers than the Thursday show.  So…let’s look at the averages.  Season 1 averaged 3.55 viewers a week…Season 2 averaged 2.74 viewers a week.  Take the 3.55 million viewers and multiply it by 77.8% (100% – 22.2%) and you get an average of 2.76 million viewers.  Hmm…very close to 2.74 million.

Second…the show has recieved rave reviews.  The writers have taken a simple show from season 1 and turned it into a more complex show.  I honestly think the addition of Ben made the show more complex…and funnier at times.  The drama between Kate, Ben, and Justin made you tune in every week.

So…concusion.  With the drop in viewers (which should have been expected moving the show from Thursdays to Fridays) and the rave reviews the show has been getting from all sides…I would say that this show will get a third season.  But don’t take my word, and don’t automatically assume that my word is the law.  USA has the final say in Fairly Legals fate…and I’ll make sure to post any new information I get as soon as I get it!
