I agree, I fell in love with merlin and every single actor is perfect for each character. we need season 4 on netflix, this show was the absolute main reason I kept netflix past the 30 day trial. Even my 8yo and 4yo boys will sit down and watch a few episodes at a time with me. I was a little surprised at the low amount of votes it got.. I like supernatural and only watched one episode of dr who so don’t know much about it but I think merlin should have gotten alot more votes than 9k. Keep Merlin coming!!!

Although… strictly speaking many of those shows – including Merlin- are Fantasy not Sci-fi.
Yeah! That’s one of the reasons I didn’t vote Merlin – as much as I love it, it’s not a SCI-FI to me.

Fringe is the best show on the list! I love Fringe! I like Merlin too, however I like Doctor Who more than Merlin.
I just found this on the U.S. SyFy channel this year and I love it. I am a big fan of the whole Arthur/Camelot mythology. I watched all the previous seasons on Hulu and am now caught up. The acting, writing and storyline are all first rate and it is is nice to find a show I can watch without worrying about what my grandkids might see if they wonder into the room -oh, and the dragon is great..

Merlin is amazing, but I’m going to give Fringe some support for the AMAZING plot and characters, and all the emotions that show puts me through. I fell in love with it before any of these other shows too haha.

Merlin is the only show that I have found that is appropriate for both my 11 year old daughter and me…just about the only “family” time we spend in front of the television. BUT, SyFy needs to remember this… and be more family friendly in their choice of advertisers. I know TV is a business but if my child is too young for the advertisers, my family will be watching/doing something else.

In my 40′s and having to work hard every week it’s always the best to come home on Fridays, and start the weekend watching Merlin! A family show I can enjoy and love. So I would give it to Merlin.
To the person who mention that some are the shows including Merlin is fantasy it would not matter whether the shows are sci-fi or fantasy there all great shows! I give all the actors and actress a lot of credit for putting so much effort in making their shows absolutely simply the best! They all deserve to win!!!

I too am over 50 and I love Merlin. It is good clean fun and there is always a lesson — friendship, loyalty, courage, determination, trust….. the young (and older) actors are marvelous and I love how they are growing with their characters. Yes, waiting for season 4 box set to be released….

Merlin is by far the best show on television! It has all the elements of a great show with movie quality performances and effects. What I love the most about this show, is that I can actually watch it with my 4-year-old in the room (she likes it too!)and know that she will not see anything offensive. Merlin proves that you CAN have great television without all the sex and language. Thanks for an awesome show and cast…don’t ever change!!!

(possible mild spoilers ahead) I love every single episode in MERLIN season 4. However, this episode (4×06 “A Servant to Two Masters”) is my favorite “rewatchable” episode of the season. It is fascinating how the extremes of drama and humor can be merged seamlessly in the same episode. COLIN MORGAN is absolutely amazing as his portrayal of Merlin swings from dramatic seriousness to slapstick “pink panther” humor. BRADLEY JAMES is wonderful as Arthur shows great concern for Merlin’s well-being. And who knew how funny ANGEL COULBY could be as Gwen helps Gaius prevent assassination attempts. You do not want to miss this episode!

MERLIN is an awesome series. I watched from the very beginning but kept myself from becoming “hooked” because I feared it would not return. But as series (season) 3 ended and a 4th was being filmed, I realized I was totally addicted! I love that it is “family-friendly” in this day-and-age. COLIN MORGAN is a fantastic actor and makes Merlin/Emrys one of the most compelling characters I have ever seen. Bradley (Arthur), Angel (Gwen), and Katie (Morgana) are also wonderful.

I voted for Doctor Who. What’s not to like about the world’s longest running Sci-Fi TV show? Sure, the sets and effects were sort of cheesy during the 1963 to 1989 original series run, but that is part of the fun. The Classic Series was always “Masterpiece Theater” acting on a “Dark Shadows” budget. The 2005 to the present day run has up-to-date effects, sets, costumes, etc. But the heart of the time & space-spanning adventures of the Doctor are still the same.
Supernatural is winning and deservedly so! Has anyone tried watching it? You should, you’d be hooked!! Best story, best acting, it’s a sci-fi, drama, comedy, action, everything show that just WORKS! And the hottest cast you’ll ever see…

It has to be Doctor Who it is the only one in your list to still be making new episodes nearly 50years after its pilot. Only a truly great show lasts that long. It also exists across so many mediums including comics, audio books, novels and many more. It has inspired countless new generations of tv makers and writers is able to completely regenerate its leading cast and potentially last forever. I cannot say that about any of the others, the case does rest.

There are several shows here I adore and I can tell I’m going to have to give Merlin a try. Still I voted for Supernatural because the characters pull you in and it combines all the best parts of TV into a unique show. Supernatural is easily the best comedy I watch, the most heartfelt drama, the goriest horror show on TV, and one of the most creative fantasies around. It is by far my favorite Sci Fi/Fantasy show around. Although if I could vote for two, Doctor Who would be my other choice.
I would have picked The Walking Dead if it had been included, but I chose Doctor Who since it wasn’t.
I love Merlin & Dr Who, but my heart, soul & vote goes to Supernatural! Great (& rare) combination of excellent writing, acting & cinematography make it the best show on television. If you haven’t watched it, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed (though you will likely be addicted!).

I am a fan of all the SyFy shows (Being Human, Warehouse 13, Merlin.) and even Fringe is one of my favorites,and i can watch each numerous times on Netflix, but i would have to say Doctor Who would be at the top of my list along with Stargate SG1.
I love a lot of these shows, but I love Supernatural the most. Nothing mixes humor with horror better. The latest episode had me laughing so hard, I had to rewind several to catch it all. Trended #ClownsKill WW the whole hour and RIGHT FRIGGIN NOW joined later in the episode. Fun times

Amazing writers like Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Adventures of TinTin), and Neil Gaimen (American Gods). It boasts fans around the globe including Steven Speilburg, Peter Jackson, and Steve Martin. It even has a Supernatural connection in that Mark Shepherd (and his Dad!) have been in it. And finally, it has been on the air for 50 years! Doctor Who is not only the best sci-fi show, it is the best television show in history!

I thought it wasn’t fair, but Dr Who did push out in the lead for a while, Supernatural had to catch up again. So I no longer think there’s anything unfair about it. Dr Who had a good chance there, but Supernatural just proved to be better. WELL DONE SUPERNATURAL, WELL DONE FANDOM!

Why when a show doesn’t win do all the fans have to claim cheating? For God’s sake, every show is gonna have some fans who try to set up a bot or whatever, but it’s pretty rare and Supernatural won this fair and square.
It was a good fight, DW fans, but another victory from the brilliant SPN family!

Question: Do you guys really want a Merlin/Doctor Who/Supernatural revote? If so, reply to this comment and reasoning behind your answer. Personally, I don’t think a revote is needed. Doctor Who was winning by a large margin on Saturday/Sunday…so much so that I thought it was an easy win for Doctor Who. So people who say it was added late need to understand that it’s not that it was added late that caused Doctor Who to get in 2nd place.
Merlin is far better then the others…I wish is would just keep going…I can’t wait until next season…Long live the King…and the Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Supernatural won fair and square. When the word gets out, the Supernatural fandom unites and once that happens it is hard to beat us. That is just the way it is. Good fight, but Supernatural wins again.

I only recently learned of Merlin and in my opinion, it’s the best show on television. Then again, I am an Athurian Legend fan. However, I do think I like this representation of the story better than most. Nothing can beat the book, of course.
